If you want to just walk in and enjoy beauty treatments, relaxation therapies and more, then find a spa that is nothing but
pure pampering and pleasure. Remember though, that a few treatments are considered medical, and should only be administered by a professional.
Even if you are not going to try a particular therapy, such as acupuncture, ask the facility who gives it, and what their qualifications are.
This can give you an overall picture of how professional a business they run.
Some of the options you might enjoy at a day spa, include the following:
Massage- Either for specific areas like the head, neck and shoulders for stress, or a full body massage, this is an experience that can leave you
relaxed and even more open to enjoying the rest of your day. The masseur/masseuse will use a variety of techniques that involve gripping,
rolling, pummeling or the press and release of your muscles and skin. The stimulation of the body helps improve circulation, clears lymph from
your system, and with the scented oils and long gliding strokes, is wonderful for stress.
Facials- Facial treatments can range from a simple peel or mask, to microdermabrasion, which removes the topmost layer of dead, dry skin. You
might also opt for facial contouring, which might be compared to massage of the face and neck; or a deep suction cleaning of the pores.
Pedicures- It's not just painting your nails! This usually involves a full range of treatments from water and/or hand massages of the lower legs
and feet, to the actual trimming and shaping of your toenails and cuticle. You'll finish off with an exfoliation and moisturizing of the whole
foot, and then the polish.
Tanning- Many spas also offer tanning booths, although these are something that need to be repeated to achieve your final results. But a day
at the spa can replace one trip to a tan salon alone. Some spas also offer the spray on tanning treatments.
Hydrotherapy- This can encompass many treatments such as whirlpools as well as baths where you soak in a particular substance; and also "wraps",
which are specific for conditioning the skin or treating certain problems.
