Eyelash Extensions Vs. Mascara

Your eyes tell a lot about you. For starters, your eyes can easily give away whether you are well rested and alert or if you’ve been up all night. Sometimes a mom just doesn't have time for eye make up in the morning, even if she wants to look her best.

Here's a comparison of eyelash extensions and mascara to see if one might be right for you:

Eyelash Extensions

- Require a trip to a professional to apply, refill and remove.
- Application can last between 2 weeks and 2 months.
- Refills are required between 2 and 4 weeks.
- Removes the need to curl and apply mascara.
- Cost more than mascara.
- It’s not recommended that you wear eye makeup or use a facial cleanser with an oil base while wearing extensions, due to the possible breakdown of the adhesive used to bond to your natural lashes.
- Can choose from human hair or synthetic fibers.
- Cannot be curled without damaging adhesive.
- Cannot come in contact with water for the first 48 hours after applied.
- Definitely more expensive, but a timesaver for moms on the go.

Mascara

- You can purchase and apply yourself.
- Can be washed off although not always easily.
- Will temporarily lengthen your lashes.
- Can be curled.
- Inexpensive.
- Takes a bit of practice applying to avoid clumping.
- May take trying different brands to find one that works best with your lashes and needs.
- Comes in waterproof, plumping, curling, and many other forms to fit individual needs.

Your eyes are precious for many reasons, treat them well and they will serve you well for a long time. Keep them looking good and you’ll feel better too.
