How to Apply
Foundation
The routine for applying foundation is
relatively simple. Your face should be clean, and a moisturizer
applied and allowed to absorb into the skin.
Next, use concealer on any areas that need
attention such as a scar, blue shadows under the eyes, etc. Don't
worry about skin areas with a significant difference in tone, as
you can touch this up with an extra spot of foundation after your
base coat is applied.
Stick makeup can be put on with its applicator. Liquid should be
shaken and applied with a makeup sponge. Many women find it easier
and more controlled, to put a little on the back of their hand or a
makeup palette, and dip the sponge in that, as opposed to straight
from the bottle. Put dots in the center of your forehead and both
cheeks and work outwards from those centers, into your hairline,
cheek line, and jaw. Be especially careful of how this works into
and around the nose and mouth. Blend with your sponge until the
foundation disappears into the skin. Any uneven areas can be given
extra attention for a more balanced tone.
When you're satisfied with the application,
set your foundation with a light brushing of loose face
powder.
