Choosing the
Right Hair Color for Your Skin Tone
If you consult a hair stylist,
their recommendations for a new hair color for you will likely be
made based on whether your skin tone is warm or cool.
That may sound very simplistic, but it's not,
since "cool" can encompass everything from a plae skin with no pink
to it, to a flushed skin tone with hints of blue. "Warm" skin tones
range from a paleness that has an underlying golden tone, a pink
flush over basically brown tinted skin, or even light skin with
darker undertones in a range of golds and tans.
Your skin color came with your natural hair
color as complements. But over time, or with premature aging, your
hair color can change and you want to try something new. The trick
is in choosing what will enhance your skin tones, and not just a
color that is different from the old one.
For truly professional job, go to a
professional and save yourself the grief of trying shade after
shade that will damage your hair after too many attempts to color
it. Remember when choosing to color your hair that you will need to
keep coloring it.
Slight variations on your own shade, perhaps
with highlights, is nowhere near as obvious when it begins to grow
out, as a complete change of color, such as brown to blonde. If you
are unsure whether the color will suit you, ask for a temporary
rinse, one that lasts for X number of weeks, depending on the
number of times you wash your hair, and the strength of your
shampoo. This will fade away evenly, and causes less damage than
more "permanent" coloring.
