Choosing a Hairstyle For Your Face Type

If you've ever looked in the mirror and thought your hair just didn't look right with your face, you could be right. After all, who is a better judge than the person that looks in the mirror at you everyday? Here are a few tips to filling out and slimming down your face with the right style/cut.

Heart shaped - Don't mimic the shape with a center part. Go for the side or eliminate a part altogether. Choose a length that goes at least to the chin. Anything shorter, and the point of your chin just emphasizes the shape. Bring hair down along both sides of the face to narrow the heart's width, and fill in the chin to collarbone area with waves and curls.

Round shaped - Try not to add to the width of your face with a full style that is curled or fluffed. In fact, choosing a cut that takes the hair right off your cheeks is one way to remove that additional width. Put some height on the top with curls, or for a short cut, a slightly longer length that can be fluffed or spiked. Long hair that goes past the chin and lays flat against the cheeks is okay, but add some fullness to the top and give your face a longer appearance on the vertical.

Square shaped - As with the heart, avoid using a center part, which will only draw attention to the width and depth of your face. Reduce the height by adding fluffy bangs, and bringing hair in and along the sides in a flat, vertical cut that will not add extra width. A slight curl in towards the chin for a cut just underneath it, will really narrow things down.
