7 Tips for Naturally Whiter Teeth
Many years ago if you wanted to have whiter teeth you could only go to the dentist to get them whitened. Fast-forward to the present and you can now do this process in the comfort of your own home. It’s possible that both of these methods involve using dangerous chemicals that can leave your teeth very sensitive. Why replace one problem with another?
Learn how you can brighten your teeth naturally by using some protective steps and herbal treatments with things you can find around your home or at the grocery store. Here are some tips:
* Prevent plaque, tarter, cavities and staining by brushing your teeth regularly. It’s ideal to brush after every meal if possible. If you don’t have a toothbrush with you make sure to rinse your mouth well.
* Too much fluoride can discolor your teeth. Although it is included in toothpastes and water supplies avoid using too much fluoride.
* If you want to avoid stains on your teeth avoid tobacco use. You may also want to go easy on the coffee and tea.
* Cola, wine, and even certain fruits and vegetables can also stain teeth. That doesn't mean we have to stop eating fruits and vegetables, just that we should take special care to brush well after eating some of them.
* Use some fruits as tooth whiteners. Strawberries, for example, can be rubbed directly on teeth or mashed up and brushed on. The inside of an orange peel is also great for whitening. You can rub it directly on your teeth, or make a paste of dried orange peel and ground bay leaves to brush on. A mixture of lemon juice and salt also works well.
* Use baking soda. You don’t have to rely on special toothpastes that have baking soda to whiten your teeth. You can mix baking soda with a dash of salt and add a little vinegar to make a homemade tooth whitener.
* Choose your mouthwash carefully. Most have alcohol in them, and some even have ingredients such as chlorhexidine that can discolor teeth. Herbal antibacterial mouthwashes are available that kill germs and freshen breath without harmful chemicals.
You don’t have to use expensive methods or harsh chemicals to get a brighter smile. Prevention and natural remedies can help give you the smile you’ve always wanted.
